This game has been the ultimate lockdown time sink, I'm finally starting to get the hang of it. So yes you need to open the relevant ports, or use a VPN setup. Yeah, there's no support for NAT punching in OpenTTD, nor support for matchmaking services that can proxy the connection. I've never done multiplayer OpenTTD before, and he's never played at all, so I thought he and I could chill out on a private server and I could show him the ropes. So, without port forwarding, I guess I can't just play online with a friend as I set my own pc up as a server? I don't really have a problem doing that, just figured I'd ask before I bother. Those settings gave me this, maybe it's too many towns: The important parts are having terrain type not too flat, high or more variety distribution, and a custom sea level of 50% or more. I've been trying out a few heightmaps of the Netherlands but they look a bit sparse and unrealistic, is there a good map someone can recommend or a good scenario with NewGRF where the map maker tried to include a lot of detail? Or is there maybe a better map generating algorithm that will include things like large islands or continents instead of just a jumble of water and land like the default ones? I've been trying to get back into this game but I usually feel a bit unsatisfied with the kind of map it generates. Nielsm fucked around with this message at 19:43 on Apr 16, 2020 My hometown is a hell of a cyberpunk sprawl now. I'm pretty much done as well, so feel free to reset it. Also, slowing down planes/increasing crash risk?īasically, I want you to stop me using my usual cash cows because it seems I can't stop myself.Īre there any good North America maps that aren't stupid big or old and broken? I'm one of those people who will try to get train stations to every oilfield. I like the sound of the "ship and heli" for oilfields only. Only cooperation among multiple companies is limited/difficult to pull off. You can ignore each other and build around everyone else, or you can compete for the same industries, or you can play multiple players cooperatively in a single company. I've never played on a multiplayer server, so it's basically people building on a common map? And following the rules in the op about not being a jerk. ![]()
